Vintage Chinese wooden carry basket with a warm ochre lacquered finish and hand-painted peony decoration.

The tall handled form is traditionally associated with Chinese wedding and food baskets, designed for carrying and presenting goods. Decorative metal banding and hanging ring, with considerable surface wear and patina throughout giving the piece strong character.

A striking decorative object with particularly good scale and colour.

Condition: Vintage condition with extensive age-related wear, losses and marks to the painted and lacquered surfaces. Please refer to photographs.
