An elegant hand-blown Victorian art glass trumpet vase dating to around 1900, featuring a beautiful satin opaline body with a finely applied vaseline glass crimped rim. Under UV light, the uranium content in the rim fluoresces a brilliant green, making this an outstanding display piece for collectors.
The vase is exceptionally well proportioned with a long, graceful stem rising from a clear applied foot. A polished pontil to the base confirms its traditional hand-blown manufacture. The quality of the workmanship suggests an English maker, most likely Stevens & Williams, although Thomas Webb & Sons produced similar examples during the period.
Whether displayed in natural light or under UV illumination, this is a striking example of late Victorian decorative glass.
