A superb large 19th-century cheese dome and base by Franz Anton Mehlem, Bonn, Germany (later Villeroy & Boch). Decorated with hand-painted chrysanthemums in yellow, red, and turquoise, finished with delicate gilding. The ribbed sides, branch-form handle, and triangular base give it striking presence on the table.
