A larger and increasingly hard-to-find Victorian advertising toothpaste pot produced by John Gosnell & Co. of London. The transfer-printed lid features a classical female profile surrounded by the advertising legend "Cherry Tooth Paste" and "For Beautifying and Preserving the Teeth & Gums", together with the royal endorsement "Patronized by the Queen."

John Gosnell & Co. were among Britain's leading perfumers and toiletry manufacturers during the 19th century, and their decorative toothpaste pots are highly sought after by collectors of Victorian advertising, chemist wares and pot lids.

This example retains both its original lid and matching base. The transfer remains strong and clearly legible, while the pot displays attractive age-related crazing and staining acquired over more than a century of use and burial. A desirable display piece that represents the early history of dental care and Victorian advertising.

Condition
Original lid and base. Extensive age-related crazing and staining throughout. Transfer remains clear and well defined. No obvious restoration noted. Presents well as found.
