Decorative work box or sewing box Germany c.1880–1910
Rectangular timber box with faux grain and geometric decoration in the Tunbridge ware taste. The lid features bold “WORK-BOX” lettering with stylised borders and original papered finish. Interior lined in red paper with fitted compartment remnants remaining.
Marked to lid: Made in Germany
Condition: Wear and losses consistent with age and use. Surface scratches, scuffs and edge wear present. Interior fittings partially missing. Base paper worn and lifting in areas. Displays well with strong colour and graphic appeal.
A decorative late 19th / early 20th century sewing or keepsake box with good shelf presence.
