A sharp little survivor from the early days of eyewear
This antique pair of folding pince-nez sunglasses features dark lenses in a wire frame, designed to clip neatly onto the nose without arms. The bridge folds compactly into its original leather case, making it a practical pocket piece from a time before modern sunglasses took over
The case is gilt stamped “Rimmington Wells", qualified consulting optician (F.S.M.C., F.I.O.), Boston,”, adding a nice maker/retailer detail and period authenticity c.1905–1915
An evocative object — equal parts optical history, gentleman’s accessory and curiosity
