Antique Edwards & Co. “Ensign Tea” Tin – Australia’s Tea Men (Large 14 lb Size)

A rare surviving early 20th century Australian advertising tin from Edwards & Co. Pty. Ltd., proudly known as Australia’s Tea Men. This large square tin, originally holding 14 lbs of Ensign Tea, is decorated with its original blue and gold painted label with crest and motto “Strength, Purity, Economy.”

With its bold typography and decorative flourishes, this tin embodies the golden age of grocery trade advertising in Australia. A substantial piece, it measures approx. 33cm tall and 24cm across, showing age-related wear, fading and patina consistent with its age.

Once a staple in grocers’ shops, these tins are now highly sought after by collectors of tea memorabilia, advertising, Australiana, and kitchenalia.
