Large Murano Art Glass Centre Bowl with Aventurine – Emerald & Lattimo, c.1970s

A bold and substantial example of mid-century Venetian art glass, this large Murano centre bowl is hand-blown in a rich emerald green with shimmering aventurine inclusions, encased in soft lattimo (milky white) glass. The deeply folded, biomorphic rim has been tooled while hot to create a dramatic six-lobed form, giving the piece a sculptural presence from every angle.

Weighing approximately 1.7 kg, this is a heavy, quality example designed as a table or console centrepiece rather than light decorative ware. The aventurine — a traditional Murano technique using copper crystals to create a gold sparkle within the glass — catches the light beautifully, making it particularly effective under display lighting.

Produced in Murano, Italy, during the mid–late 20th century, the bowl reflects the era’s fusion of traditional Venetian craftsmanship with organic modernist design. A striking standalone statement piece or an excellent addition to an art glass collection.

Condition:
Very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks observed. Light base wear consistent with age and careful use.
