Made in England, Stoke-on-Trent — c.1930s
A classic Sylvac dog trough vase, model 2024, produced in Stoke-on-Trent and dating to the firm’s highly collectable interwar period. Modelled as a reclining terrier with head resting on its paws, the elongated body forms a planter or spill vase cavity along the back.
Finished in Sylvac’s distinctive mottled green glaze, this piece shows the expressive modelling and tactile surface that made the company’s animal wares so popular from the 1930s onward. The underside carries the impressed marks “SYLVAC – MADE IN ENGLAND – 2024”, confirming the pattern number.
Originally intended as a small planter, table centre, or mantel ornament, these whimsical yet well-made figures remain one of the most recognisable outputs of Staffordshire art pottery.
A strong example of early Sylvac production — decorative, functional, and highly displayable.
