Vintage Japanese Glass Fishing Float Cluster – Hand Blown Nautical Net Floats
Vintage Japanese Glass Fishing Float Cluster – Hand Blown Nautical Net Floats
Couldn't load pickup availability
A striking cluster of authentic vintage glass fishing floats, traditionally used by Japanese fisheries throughout the early–mid 20th century. Each float is hand blown, showing the characteristic pontil marks, bubbles, and subtle variations that confirm their utilitarian origins rather than modern reproduction.
Gathered in aged natural-fibre rope netting, this piece was once part of a working fishing rig, designed to support nets at sea before plastic floats replaced glass in the 1950s–60s. Today, these salvaged clusters are prized for their sculptural form and atmospheric coastal character.
The soft sea-green tones come from recycled glass used in original production, giving each float its own unique hue. The weathered rope and honest wear add to the authenticity and visual depth — this is maritime history repurposed as decorative art.
Ideal for display in coastal, industrial, or eclectic interiors. Hang it where light can pass through the glass to fully appreciate its texture and colour.
