Victorian silverplate biscuit barrel (biscuit box), late 19th century.
Cylindrical form with swing handle and hinged half lid, standing on scroll feet. Finely engraved with a crane in marshland among reeds and insects — a slightly Japonisme decorative influence that sets it apart from standard floral examples. Gilded interior.
A functional and decorative piece for the table or sideboard.
Condition
Good antique condition. General plate wear, light rubbing and minor surface marks consistent with age and use. No major dents. Interior gilding worn but present.
