Late Victorian photograph album dating to around the 1880s–1890s, beautifully bound in embossed black leather with gilt decoration.
Originally designed to hold cabinet card photographs, the popular portrait format of the late 19th century. The cover features elaborate moulded scrollwork and floral ornament with a central cartouche and decorative gilt borders.
Inside are chromolithographed floral pages with oval photo apertures.
The brass clasp is missing and several internal mounts show wear and tearing, but the album remains a striking decorative piece and an authentic example of Victorian photographic history.
A lovely display object for a library, studio, or period interior.
