Victorian Ebonised Fire Screen with Needlework Panel

A handsome late Victorian fire screen, dating to around 1890–1910, featuring an original embroidered needlework panel with a romantic courting scene surrounded by finely worked floral garlands. The ebonised timber frame is enhanced by a gilt inner slip and classical detailing, making it an elegant decorative piece for both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Originally designed to shield occupants from the radiant heat of an open fireplace, fire screens are now sought after as decorative accent pieces and examples of Victorian domestic craftsmanship. Similar embroidered fire screens continue to be popular with collectors and interior designers.

Condition
Good antique condition with age-related wear. The embroidered panel displays some staining and age toning consistent with its age. The original glass is no longer present, and there are loose threads visible to the rear, but the frame is solid and presents beautifully.
