Victorian Burr Walnut Davenport Desk with Pop-Up Stationery Cabinet c.1860–1880

A fine Victorian burr walnut Davenport desk dating from the late 19th century, showcasing exceptional figured walnut veneers, elegant boxwood stringing and the distinctive carved scroll supports associated with quality English cabinetmaking.

The sloping writing surface is fitted with a new green leather writing insert and lifts to reveal a spacious storage compartment. Unusually, the desk also features a concealed pop-up stationery cabinet with original pigeonholes and letter racks, providing a practical and highly desirable feature rarely found on standard Davenport desks.

Four graduating drawers occupy one side, while the opposing side is fitted with matching dummy drawers, maintaining the desk's balanced appearance. The burr walnut stationery gallery is topped with an attractive brass rail, while the front is enhanced with delicate marquetry inlay.

A beautiful statement piece equally suited to a study, library or entrance hall.
