England, c.1900–1930

A charming Staffordshire-style spaniel modelled in the traditional seated pose and designed as a spill vase, with the open compartment to the back originally intended for fireplace spills or small floral arrangements. Pieces like this continued to be produced into the early 20th century, carrying forward the much-loved Victorian mantel ornament tradition.

Finished in a soft cream glaze with hand-painted green patches and simple detailing, it has the naïve character and decorative warmth associated with Staffordshire wares. Its compact size makes it ideal for shelf, cabinet, or mantel display.

A classic English decorative ceramic that sits comfortably in both traditional interiors and eclectic vintage settings.
