A rare matched pair of early carbide miner’s lamps, produced during the Depression era and beautifully preserved in their original glass and galvanised steel frames. Each lamp features its conical wire-mesh carbide basket, intact ventilation ports, and embossed measurement marks on the glass reservoir.
These lamps were used with carbide and water to create acetylene gas — a bright, reliable flame for mines, workshops and farms long before electrification reached the bush. Functional history, industrial charm, and hard-to-find as a pair.
