This book traces the mythical ancestry of the Kunwinjku people of Western Arnhem Land through the eyes of an old man, Nawakadj Nganjmirra , a major arts practitioner in the region. His works are held in galleries both in Australia and overseas. It contains his remarkable series of drawings depicting stories about the creator ancestors as they travelled over the land creating sacred sites, rivers, rocks, landscapes, animals and people.
The stories are recorded in both English and Kunwinjku, and the book is further enhanced by Neil McLeod's exquisite colour photographs of the places where the stories are located.
