England | c.1930s–1940s
A delightful English chintz-pattern serving or trinket tray produced by Grimwades Ltd, Staffordshire, in the popular “Queen Anne” range.
The surface is decorated in a dense all-over floral chintz design, printed over a fine square lattice ground and finished with a delicate gilt edge — a decorative style strongly associated with English tablewares of the interwar and early post-war period.
The underside bears the printed Grimwades – Made in England mark, together with the pattern name “Queen Anne.”

🏛 Curatorial Note
Chintz wares became extremely popular in Britain between the wars, reflecting a return to domestic comfort and decorative abundance.
Small trays such as this were commonly used on dressing tables for jewellery or pins, or on sideboards for sweets and tea service accompaniments. Today, they remain highly collectable and display beautifully in both traditional and eclectic interiors.
