Beautiful late Victorian photograph album bound in red embossed leather with gilt decoration and original brass clasp. These albums were designed to hold cabinet card studio portraits, the popular photographic format of the late 19th century.

The album features thick card pages with die-cut oval apertures designed to slide photographs in from the sides. Gilt page edges and decorative printed borders add to the elegant presentation typical of Victorian family albums.

Originally sold through W.C. Rigby Booksellers of Adelaide, whose small label remains inside the back cover.

A lovely decorative piece that also works well as a prop, display item, or for collectors of antique photography.
