A handsome late Victorian burr walnut corner whatnot, dating to around 1880–1900.

Featuring four graduated shaped shelves with richly figured burr walnut veneers, fine contrasting string inlay and pierced fretwork supports. The upper tier is finished with an elaborate shaped gallery, turned finials and central architectural crest.

Designed to sit neatly into a corner, these tiered whatnots were made for displaying ceramics, glass, photographs and other decorative objects in the Victorian interior.

A particularly attractive example with excellent colour and figuring to the walnut.
