Authentic Victorian Alexandrite glass vase dating to circa 1880, featuring a beautifully hand-tooled ruffled rim and elegant bulbous form. The glass displays the distinctive colour-change effect associated with Alexandrite glass—appearing soft blue-grey in daylight and shifting toward lavender, amethyst, and warm rose tones under different lighting.
The applied opalescent rim shows milky white translucency, fading into the coloured body beneath—an effect achieved through controlled reheating during manufacture. Numerous tiny air inclusions and the pontil-finished base confirm traditional hand-blown Victorian production.
A refined and increasingly scarce example of late 19th century English art glass.

Collector Notes
Alexandrite glass was produced primarily in England during the late Victorian period and is less commonly encountered than cranberry glass. The colour-change effect and opalescent rim make this an especially desirable example.
