c. 1910–1925 | England

A solid and well-proportioned early 20th-century oak wardrobe, ideal as a gentleman’s wardrobe, linen cupboard, or compact armoire. This is a nicely restrained piece with subtle decorative detailing rather than heavy carving, making it easy to place in both traditional and contemporary interiors.

The façade features panelled doors with applied beaded vertical detail and a carved foliate frieze, standing on bun feet. Inside, the wardrobe retains a practical original layout with hanging space, hooks, shelves, and a lower drawer, making it genuinely useful rather than purely decorative.

Interior

  • Full-height hanging section with hooks

  • Shelved section for folded garments or linens

  • Lower internal drawer

  • Original hanging rail hardware present

Construction & Materials

  • Solid oak exterior

  • Oak-veneered panels and interior linings typical of the period

  • Original hinges, latch, and fittings

Condition

Good antique condition overall.
Expected age-related wear throughout, including:

  • Surface wear and patina consistent with use

  • Marks and wear to interior shelves and base

  • Minor shrinkage and movement typical of oak furniture of this age

Structurally solid, doors close well, and the piece presents honestly without over-restoration.
