Antique J. Ladd & Co Adelaide, Port & Gawler Stoneware Ginger Beer Bottle with Bristol Blue Lip c.1890–1910

A handsome South Australian stoneware ginger beer bottle produced for J. Ladd & Co., one of Adelaide's best-known late nineteenth and early twentieth-century beverage manufacturers.

This example features the desirable Bristol blue glazed lip and clear black transfer reading:

The transfer references the company's depots serving Adelaide, Port Adelaide and Gawler, making this an attractive piece of South Australian brewing and soft drink history.

Condition

Very good antique condition.

Strong, well-preserved transfer with honest age-related wear. The Bristol blue glaze remains vibrant. No cracks or repairs noted. Minor kiln imperfections and light wear to the base consistent with age.
