handsome early colonial cedar chest of drawers featuring two short drawers over three long graduating drawers. Retaining its original turned cedar knobs, working locks and key, and standing on substantial turned bun feet. The rich reddish-brown cedar grain is particularly attractive across the drawer fronts and sides.
This piece presents beautifully and offers generous storage, while still retaining the character expected of a mid-19th century Australian cedar chest. The drawers run smoothly and all locks are operational.
Condition is very good for age. There are age-related marks and wear consistent with use, including historic shrinkage cracks to the top, as shown in photographs. Structurally sound and ready for use.
