Antique Australian Timber Chest of Drawers

Early 20th century

A well-proportioned antique chest of drawers with a solid timber carcase front, drawer fronts, and top, combined with plywood sides and back — a construction method commonly seen in later colonial and Federation-era Australian furniture.

The piece features a practical two-over-three configuration, with two small central drawers flanked by deeper side drawers above, over three full-width drawers below. Original turned timber knobs and escutcheons remain in place.

The cedar displays a warm, rich patina with age-related marks consistent with use. A solid, usable piece with good presence, suited to everyday storage rather than museum purity.
